Newsletter November 2017
Dear Jerene,
Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. We take our commitment to helping you stay in the know of everything that happens here at The Palisadoes Foundation very seriously. Hope it helps you act in time to tap into great resources and opportunities, and stay inspired.
Our November Newsletter includes many items of interest:
- Featured Partner — The JPS foundation, our chief sponsor
- Spotlight Event —Presentations from 2017 Calico Challenge participants
- Milestone — The Palisadoes Foundation is now a part of the Amazon Smile Network
- Meet — Our newest volunteer, Aarthi
Our Chief Sponsor — The JPS Foundation
We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors for making Calico Challenge 2017 possible. Our principal benefactor, the JPS Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the JPS, Jamaica’s primary electricity utility. Established in October 2012, the Foundation executes the Company’s social responsibility projects. It operates with the mission “of empowering Jamaicans through charitable development projects”, and is propelled by a vision “to unleash national growth and prosperity by being the not-for-profit partner of choice in Jamaica’s Energy Revolution”.
The JPSF is especially geared towards promoting the cause of innovation and youth education. We are glad it has found a like-minded partner in the Palisadoes Foundation whose Calico Challenge has the potential to tap precisely the kind of talent that will help achieve this end. It is heartening that the JPS Foundation shares the same level of commitment and drive to see the Calico Challenge expand its reach for the benefit of more students who need a leg up. We look forward to your continued support!
Calico Students Present at the JPS Foundation
As the 2017 Calico Challenge comes to a close, our November newsletter spotlights the participants in this “learn and earn” project. Four Calico Challengers, Luke Chen Sui, Jerene Ricketts, Alexander Nicholson and Javon Davis shared their experiences through a set of presentations on October 25th, at the Jamaica Public Service’s (JPS) head office. The event turned out to be a fitting finale to a successful year showcasing how far we have come and how much more needs to be done!
It gives us pleasure to let you know, our sponsors and supporters, that “your goodwill” has made it possible for us to offer students the learning, internship, mentorship, and stipend needed to help them land jobs!
